Activated Charcoal for Detoxification
When you want a premium, food grade granular activated charcoal, trust Life Force International. Life Force activates its charcoal by super-heating and granulating coconut shells. This technique causes the pieces to explode (somewhat like popcorn), creating a tremendous increase in the surface area of the particle. In fact, Life Force premium Activated Charcoal safely adsorbs thousands of times its mass because of this process. Its absorption capabilities are tremendous, which means Life Force Activated Charcoal granules are an ultra-effective, detoxification powerhouse. Granules simply are more effective and reliable, with a longer shelf life than emergency charcoal slurry. Because of being produced by a food supplement manufacturer, there are no concerns of contamination, unlike other, less expensive online bulk brands. This is a premium, safe, food-grade activated charcoal.
This Activated Charcoal has an amazing ability to to adsorb many times its own weight in gases, chemicals, and even heavy metals and to neutralize impurities. You also have 3 easy ways to consume it: sprinkle it in a liquid and drink with a straw, place the granules on the back of your tongue, or you can use your capsule maker. When used with Intestinal Tone, particles are easily suspended. Some also use Activated Charcoal as a natural deodorant. This botanical form of carbon is non-carcinogenic and 100% vegetarian/vegan. Please note: As with any activated charcoal product, it should not be taken within 3 hours on either side of taking medications.
Unlike less expensive online sourced brands, you can rest easy that Life Force International Activated Charcoal contains no sorbitol! Plus, with its granular form, you can apply it topically when mixed into a paste.

- Why can’t I take Activated Charcoal with my medications?
- We recommend that you take your Activated Charcoal three hours from the time you would take any medications because Activated Charcoal works as an adsorbing agent. This is a vegetarian botanical form of carbon that travels through the GI tract adsorbing toxins and carrying them out of the body. Adsorption refers to how toxins bind to the carbon particles, and Life Force’s food-grade product is capable of adsorbing many times its own weight in toxins. In much the same way, the Activated Charcoal would bind with your medication in the GI tract and carry it out of the body. Do not use with time-released medications.
- When would be the optimum time to use your Activated Charcoal product? Would it be best taken before or after meals and how many times in a day should this be taken?
- Activated Charcoal should be taken as follows: take one level teaspoon added to eight ounces of water both in the morning and the evening. You may want to drink it through a straw to assist in consuming it. Do not take within three hours of any medication. Do not use with time-released medication.
- Can I brush my teeth with the these granules?
- You will find that if you pour a small amount of Activated Charcoal into a 4 ounce bowl and then wet your toothbrush and dip it into the bowl, the amount of particles sticking to the toothbrush will serve to brush your teeth. We suggest rinsing your mouth with water, swishing well, upon completion.
- Can I put this in capsules?
- Yes, and in fact, that is one of the ways we take our servings in this house. You will find capsule makers and empty capsules available widely online. We use vegetarian, size 2 capsules.

Activated Charcoal Uses
It used to be Activated Charcoal was only used as an emergency measure for poisoning or overdose. However, these days if you type “activated charcoal” into any search engine, you will see it is gaining wider acceptance in alternative circles for many things. Folks are using Activated Charcoal for digestive gas*, hangovers*, dental care and teeth whitening*, acne*, insect bites*, bad breath*, digestive detoxification*, pet health, and plant soil additions. We keep Activated Charcoal on hand for many different uses, but most importantly for food poisoning and accidental chemical poisoning. And a benefit of granules over a charcoal slurry is that the expiration date is longer for granules, so you aren’t stuck with expired slurry when you need it most. Plus, chewing the granules is a terrific self-administration technique.
Stay safe!
