Statement from Life Force International on Covid-19Posted 04/30/20 in [Life Force Products & Your Health] | Comments Off on Statement from Life Force International on Covid-19
The letter below was sent out in April of 2020 to all members and customers of Life Force International. It reflects the understanding and knowledge at that current point in time, and might not reflect developments in the understanding of Covid-19 at the time of reading this.
To Our Valued Members and Customers,
On behalf of myself, Ron Hillman, our CEO and President, and all staff of Life Force International, I want to thank you for your continuing confidence in our products. We discussed COVID-19 with all our staff, including customer service when the first cases of Coronavirus were identified in February.
For over 3 decades, the priority of Life Force International has always been, and will continue to be, product safety. We value health and well-being above all else. Decades ago, we implemented a disease control policy and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program. We established a Risk Assessment and Mitigation Team to monitor, research, and implement risk elimination strategies in every aspect of microbiological, chemical, and physical contamination. In recent years, we also implemented a Bioterrorism policy. We continue to perform ongoing trainings to address everything mentioned above.
Even though there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods, we want to let you know that all of our ingredients are purchased from reputable US vendors. Furthermore, according to CDC information on coronavirus:
- The virus is thought to spread mainly from person to person, between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) or through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the moths or noses of people who are nearby or possible be inhaled into the lungs.
- The virus has poor survivability on surfaces. However, it may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads. In general, because of poor survivability of coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely only a very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Despite that, we still use sanitizing agents that are effective against COVID-19, and we sanitize all containers of received materials before opening prior to use.
In connection to the virus outbreak, US regulatory agencies have issued warning letters to numerous companies for making false or misleading claims for unapproved products, intended to prevent or treat COVID-19. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairman Joe Simons is quoted as saying, “What we don’t need in this situation are companies preying on consumers be promoting products with fraudulent prevention and treatment claims.”
The text of the warning letters indicates, “there currently are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges, or other prescriptions or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure coronavirus disease 2019.” However, we can take precautions for our own well-being. We should maintain our immune system health, exercise, and eat nutritious food. We also need to give our body plenty of rest and sleep when needed Thus, we suggest listening to your body and acting accordingly.
We are committed to continuing our manufacturing operations without interruption. We are proceeding with a focus on increasing quantities of much-needed products to support immune system health and fulfill your demand.
Please rest assured that Life Force International will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure that the products that we manufacture and distribute continue to be safe.
Stay safe and sound!
