Our Curated Standard
We favor whole-food and plant-based nutrition whenever practical, while recognizing that some nutrients are best delivered through thoughtfully formulated supplements. Every product we carry is evaluated for its ingredients, formulation, and how well it aligns with our standards before we recommend it.
Why These Ingredients Matter
| Ingredient | Why |
|---|---|
| Silver (as colloidal silver) | Silver is known for its antimicrobial properties and has been used in certain medical applications.1 These findings do not establish the effectiveness of oral colloidal silver for treating or preventing disease.2 |
Know where your supplements have been. Your order ships directly from Youngevity, not from a third-party reseller. You may find the same product for a few dollars less elsewhere, but with reseller inventory, it can be difficult to know how long a product has been stored or under what conditions.

Why We Carry It
We already carry a 10 ppm colloidal silver formula, but Ultimate Colloidal Silver™ gives customers a distinctly different option: a lower-concentration formula providing 13 mcg of silver per 2.5 mL serving, with pure microfine silver in suspension and purified water. We chose to carry both so customers looking for colloidal silver can compare the formulations and concentrations rather than having only one option.
Silver, colloidal silver, and silver nanoparticles have a substantial body of published antimicrobial research behind them. Laboratory and experimental research has examined activity involving bacteria, antibiotic-resistant organisms, biofilms, fungi, and viruses.1,4,5,6 Researchers have also investigated silver-based formulations in combination with conventional antimicrobial treatments.5
Human clinical research remains much more limited. Researchers have identified significant barriers to moving silver nanoparticle research into clinical trials and clinical use, including regulatory requirements, lack of standardized manufacturing and characterization, differences among silver formulations, questions surrounding toxicity and dosing, and the considerable cost of clinical development.7 Those limitations don’t establish that taking this particular colloidal silver supplement orally treats or prevents disease, but they are important context when considering why a substantial laboratory literature has not produced an equally substantial body of human clinical trials.
That’s why this is a product we think deserves an especially even-handed presentation. Rather than asking you to accept either sweeping claims for colloidal silver or sweeping dismissals of it, we’ve chosen to present the formulation, published research, regulatory context, known safety concerns, and limitations of the evidence so you can evaluate the information for yourself.
Why I Recommend It
I’ve kept colloidal silver in our cabinet for years, usually right alongside Taheebo, so this isn’t a category I added simply because Youngevity offers another version. My long-term personal experience has been with colloidal silver generally, rather than specifically with this Ultimate 5 ppm formula. What interests me about Ultimate Colloidal Silver™ is that it gives customers another clearly labeled option. Some people specifically look for a lower-concentration colloidal silver product, and I would rather offer enough information to compare the two than assume one concentration is right for everyone. Because apparently, I felt like one colloidal silver wasn’t enough for me to explain.
My own experience with colloidal silver is part of why I remain interested in it, but personal experience isn’t clinical evidence. There is a substantial body of published research examining the antimicrobial properties of silver, colloidal silver, and silver nanoparticles, while much of that research remains laboratory or experimental rather than human clinical research. Different silver formulations also cannot simply be treated as interchangeable.
My job here isn’t to tell you what conclusion you should draw from my experience or the research. It’s to give you enough good information to draw your own.

Frequently Asked Questions
Product Questions
What’s the difference between Ultimate Colloidal Silver™ and Colloidal Silver 10 ppm? Ultimate Colloidal Silver™ is a 5 ppm formula providing 13 mcg of silver per 2.5 mL serving and uses pure microfine silver in suspension with purified water. Our Life Force Colloidal Silver is a 10 ppm formula providing 40 mcg per 4 mL serving and contains colloidal silver and deionized water. They also have different directions for use, so the two products should not be treated as interchangeable formulations.
If silver has antimicrobial properties, doesn’t that mean drinking colloidal silver has the same effect? Not necessarily. Silver has demonstrated antimicrobial activity and has specialized medical applications,1 but those findings cannot automatically be applied to an orally consumed colloidal silver supplement. The route of administration, form of silver, concentration, exposure, and conditions being studied all matter.1,5
Is colloidal silver an antibiotic? No. This product is a dietary supplement containing silver in colloidal form. It should not be equated with an antibiotic or used as a substitute for appropriate medical treatment.2
What is argyria? Argyria is a permanent blue-gray discoloration of the skin associated with silver accumulating in body tissues, typically following prolonged or excessive silver exposure.3 It is one of the recognized safety concerns associated with colloidal silver use.
Can colloidal silver interact with medications? Colloidal silver may interfere with the absorption of certain medications.3 If you take medications, consult your healthcare professional before using this product.
Why do the answers on this page sound a little more matter-of-fact than some of your other product FAQs? Thanks for noticing. Colloidal silver comes with a long history, genuine scientific interest, and its share of controversy and exaggerated claims. For that reason, I think it’s especially important to be precise about what the research does—and doesn’t—tell us. This product is a liquid dietary supplement containing colloidal silver, with purified water and pure microfine silver in suspension. I want to give you good information from reputable sources and let you decide whether it makes sense for you.
Do I get extra credit for knowing what ppm means before I got to this page? Absolutely. Well, not officially. But you have earned my nerd seal of approval (silver-colored, of course).

Research Bibliography
For readers who would like to explore the research further, the bibliography below includes original research, human studies, toxicology research, scholarly reviews, and other scientific literature examining silver, colloidal silver, and silver nanoparticles, including antimicrobial activity, antibiotic-resistant organisms, biofilms, fungi, viruses, potential medical applications, human research, safety, and limitations in translating laboratory findings into clinical use. The publications involve different forms of silver, concentrations, methods of administration, experimental models, and research questions, and some of the review articles discuss primary studies that are also included separately in this bibliography. The Ultimate Colloidal Silver™ product sold on this page was not evaluated in this body of research. Inclusion of a publication in this bibliography does not mean that its findings apply to this product or constitute an endorsement of its use. The FDA has found a lack of adequate data to establish colloidal silver as safe and effective for treating or preventing disease.2
