Why We Carry It

Taheebo has been part of the Life Force product line for decades, and it offers something different from the vitamins, minerals, and other foundational nutrients in our catalog. Pau d’Arco is a traditional South American botanical with a long history of use, particularly in preparations made from the inner bark.

We also appreciate the practicality of this formula. People familiar with Pau d’Arco may know it as loose bark prepared as a tea or decoction. This product provides the inner bark as a ready-to-use liquid extract, making it much easier to incorporate into a modern supplement routine without measuring, simmering, or straining bark.

Traditional use isn’t the same thing as clinical proof, and the human research on Pau d’Arco remains limited. At the same time, its long ethnobotanical history and continuing scientific interest make it a botanical we think deserves to be presented with both respect for traditional knowledge and an honest look at what modern research does and does not yet tell us.

Why I Recommend It

Taheebo is another product that has been part of the Life Force product line for as long as I’ve been familiar with it. I’ve kept Taheebo in our cabinet for years. When I decide it’s time to reach for it, I usually take it for several days and, more often than not, with what I jokingly call my “Colloidal Silver chaser.” That’s simply my personal routine, not evidence of what either product will do for someone else, and I’m not making any health claims.

There’s something I have always told customers who ask me whether a supplement “works.” We can’t run a controlled experiment on ourselves. I can’t take Taheebo, see how I feel, and then go back in time and live those exact same days without it to see what would have happened. Personal experience is just that: personal experience. You’re the expert on yourself, and my job is to give you good information from reputable sources so you can decide whether something makes sense for you.

I also think it’s worth looking beyond our own modern experience when we evaluate traditional botanicals. Pau d’Arco has a long history of medicinal use, particularly in South American traditional practices. That history isn’t the same thing as modern clinical proof, but I don’t think it should be dismissed simply because the people who valued a plant for generations didn’t have today’s laboratories and clinical trials.

For my husband and me, Taheebo has earned a lasting place in our cabinet. I can’t tell you what it will do for you, but I can tell you why I continue to keep it in mine.

What’s In It

Pau d’Arco Liquid Extract (Inner Bark), Filtered Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Alcohol (20%), Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, and less than 0.2% Potassium Benzoate to preserve freshness.

How to Use It

Shake well before using. Take 1 dropper full in both the morning and evening. For optimal absorption, take directly under the tongue and hold for 1–2 minutes. One dropper full is one full squeeze of the rubber bulb. Warning: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications, consult your healthcare professional before using this product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Product Questions

Is Taheebo the same thing as Pau d’Arco? Yes. Taheebo is one of the names used for Pau d’Arco, a botanical derived from the inner bark of South American trees classified in the Handroanthus genus and historically in Tabebuia. You may also see it called lapacho.

Does Taheebo need to be refrigerated? No. Taheebo does not require refrigeration. Store it according to the directions on the product label.

Is this the same as Pau d’Arco tea? It comes from the same traditionally used botanical material (Pau d’Arco inner bark), but this product is a prepared liquid extract rather than loose bark for brewing. One serving provides 720 mg of Pau d’Arco/Lapacho Liquid Extract (Inner Bark). Because the label does not provide an equivalency between the extract and brewed Pau d’Arco, we don’t equate a serving with a particular amount of tea.

Do I have to speak Portuguese for Taheebo to work? Nope. Your taste buds may know you’ve taken something botanical, but Taheebo requires no language skills whatsoever.

Can I take Taheebo if I use medications? Check with your healthcare professional first. The product label specifically advises people who are pregnant, nursing, or taking medications to consult their healthcare professional before use. Pau d’Arco has also been reported to have potential interactions with anticoagulant and antiplatelet medications.
