Our Curated Standard
We favor whole-food and plant-based nutrition whenever practical, while recognizing that some nutrients are best delivered through thoughtfully formulated supplements. Every product we carry is evaluated for its ingredients, formulation, and how well it aligns with our standards before we recommend it.
Why These Ingredients Matter
| Ingredient | Why |
|---|---|
| Muscadine Grape Seed | Muscadine grape seeds are particularly rich in naturally occurring phenolic compounds. Research comparing the seed, skin and pulp found that about 87% of the measured phenolic compounds were concentrated in the seeds, which also had the highest antioxidant capacity of the three parts.1 Dry muscadine grape seed powder has also demonstrated high antioxidant capacity using the ORAC method.3 Ground muscadine grape seed supplementation has been studied in a randomized human clinical trial, although the cardiovascular findings were mixed and do not establish broad cardiovascular benefits.2 |
Know where your supplements have been. Your order ships directly from Youngevity, not from a third-party reseller. You may find the same product for a few dollars less elsewhere, but with reseller inventory, it can be difficult to know how long a product has been stored or under what conditions.

Why We Carry It
I wanted to know where my muscadine grape seed capsules came from, and I wanted American farmers to benefit from their production. Nature’s Pearl was built around muscadines grown by farmers in the southeastern United States and processing in North Carolina. Each vegan capsule contains 650 mg of just ground muscadine grape seed. Here’s more of why we carry it:
Antioxidant support: Muscadine grape seeds are naturally rich in polyphenols and have demonstrated high antioxidant capacity in laboratory testing.1,3
Why the seed? In research comparing muscadine seed, skin and pulp, about 87% of the measured phenolic compounds were concentrated in the seeds. The seeds also had the highest antioxidant capacity of the three parts.1
Whole food, not an isolated compound: This isn’t isolated resveratrol or a standardized blend of selected grape compounds. The ingredient is ground muscadine grape seed, so the naturally occurring compounds in the seed stay together.
Human research: Ground muscadine grape seed supplementation has been studied in a randomized controlled trial. The cardiovascular results were mixed, so we don’t use that study to promise cardiovascular benefits. We do appreciate having human research on this type of ground-seed preparation rather than relying entirely on research involving unrelated grape extracts or isolated compounds.2
Why this one? It’s wonderfully uncomplicated: ground muscadine grape seed in a vegetable capsule. The capsule makes a naturally tart and bitter part of the fruit practical to include in your routine without asking you to sit around chewing grape seeds.
Why I Recommend It
If you’ve spent any time on this site, you know I’m finicky about what products are right for LiquidWholeFood. I’m all about getting our nutrition from food first and using supplements where they make sense. This product lands in a sweet spot for me, because the supplement really is the food: ground muscadine grape seeds in a vegetable capsule. I also like that the seeds aren’t just leftover grape stuff from processing. They’re actually the part of the muscadine where researchers found most of the measured phenolic compounds.1
That’s the kind of supplement that makes sense to me. We’re taking a part of a food that’s nutritionally interesting but not particularly practical to eat, grinding it up, and putting it in a capsule. We’re not chasing one celebrity compound or trying to make the ingredient sound more impressive than it is. Sometimes simple really is enough.
I wouldn’t choose between this and the whole-fruit Muscadine Grape Extract based on which one is “better.” If I wanted to focus specifically on the polyphenol-rich seed in a simple capsule, I’d choose this one. If I specifically wanted the highly concentrated fruit, skin and seed together for the broader mixture of naturally occurring plant compounds, I’d look at the whole-fruit liquid. I like having both choices.

Frequently Asked Questions
Product Questions
What’s the difference between Premium Muscadine Grape Seed and Premium Muscadine Grape Extract? The capsules contain specifically muscadine grape seed, while the liquid extract is made from the whole muscadine fruit, including the fruit, skin and seed. The seed is particularly rich in naturally occurring phenolic compounds and provides a targeted way to supplement with that part of the grape.1 The liquid provides the broader mixture of plant compounds found across the whole fruit. Neither is automatically better; they offer different approaches.
What is ORAC, and why does it matter? ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It is a laboratory method used to measure the antioxidant capacity of foods and other materials.4 Dry muscadine grape seed powder has demonstrated high antioxidant capacity using this method, measuring 311 μmol Trolox equivalents per gram in one study.3 ORAC is a laboratory measurement, however, not a recommended daily intake or a measure of exactly how much antioxidant activity your body will receive from a serving.
Can I open the capsules instead of swallowing them? Yes. Keep in mind that grape seed has a naturally tart and bitter taste.
Has muscadine grape seed been studied in people? Yes. A randomized controlled trial studied muscadine grape seed supplementation in adults with or at increased risk for cardiovascular disease.2 The cardiovascular findings were mixed and did not establish broad cardiovascular benefits, but the study is useful because it provides human research on supplementation with ground muscadine grape seed.
So now you want me to eat the grape seeds? I know. We’ve spent years breeding grapes so we wouldn’t have to deal with them, and here I am selling them to you in capsules.
