Prostate Health is formulated as a multi-herb extract, combining saw palmetto with botanicals including nettle and buchu that have histories of use in men’s urinary-health preparations. Each botanical brings a different group of naturally occurring plant compounds to the formula.
Why does the fact that it contains extracts matter? An herb’s preparation can affect its chemical composition. Saw palmetto provides a particularly good example: research has evaluated different preparations, and the evidence cannot necessarily be generalized from one type of saw palmetto product to another.3,4
Is Prostate Health intended only for older men? Youngevity does not specify a particular age for using the product. It is formulated as targeted nutritional support for men’s prostate and urinary health.
Can I take this instead of seeing a doctor about urinary symptoms? No. New or changing urinary symptoms can have many causes and should be evaluated rather than assumed to be related to normal prostate aging. A dietary supplement shouldn’t be used to diagnose or treat the cause of those symptoms.
