Our Curated Standard
We favor whole-food and plant-based nutrition whenever practical, while recognizing that some nutrients are best delivered through thoughtfully formulated supplements. Every product we carry is evaluated for its ingredients, formulation, and how well it aligns with our standards before we recommend it.
Why These Ingredients Matter
| Ingredient | Why |
|---|---|
| Prebiotic Fiber Blend | Inulin, acacia fiber, beet fiber, flaxseed and chia seed provide a diverse mix of dietary fibers. Fiber supports normal digestive function, while fermentable prebiotic fibers provide substrates for beneficial intestinal microorganisms.1,2,3 |
| Blood Sugar Support Blend | Cinnamon bark, bitter melon and Gymnema sylvestre are botanicals studied for their effects on glucose metabolism. Gymnema’s gymnemic acids and compounds in cinnamon and bitter melon have been investigated through several possible mechanisms, although findings depend on the particular extract, dose and study design.4,5,6 |
| Digestive Enzyme Blend | Bromelain, papain, protease, amylase, cellulase, lactase and lipase provide enzymes that act on different components of food, including proteins, carbohydrates, lactose and fats. |
| Bacillus coagulans | This spore-forming probiotic is particularly suited to shelf-stable products because its spores can tolerate conditions that are difficult for many non-spore-forming probiotic organisms. YGY Regulate provides 5 billion CFU per packet.7,8 |

Why We Carry It
Fiber supplements can serve a useful purpose, but we don’t think adding fiber should mean overlooking the importance of variety. YGY Regulate combines several fiber sources, including inulin, acacia, beet, flaxseed and chia, rather than relying on a single isolated fiber.
What makes this formula more interesting to us is what accompanies that fiber. Each packet also provides a digestive enzyme blend, 5 billion CFU of Bacillus coagulans, and cinnamon, bitter melon and gymnema extracts selected for additional metabolic support. That makes YGY Regulate a more comprehensive digestive supplement than a basic fiber powder while still delivering a meaningful 8 grams of dietary fiber per serving.
Why I Recommend It
About 20 years ago, I carried a fiber supplement that was basically a simple insoluble fiber product. My position then, and now, is that most of our dietary fiber should come from a variety of plant foods that give us both soluble and insoluble fiber. But sometimes we need a broom to help sweep things through, and a fiber supplement can be useful for that.
I eventually stopped carrying that product because I decided I wanted more benefits from any digestive supplement I offered. If someone is going to spend money on a fiber supplement, I want the fiber to bring some friends.
YGY Regulate surpassed the other fiber supplements I looked at because it doesn’t stop with fiber. It combines several fiber and prebiotic sources with digestive enzymes, a probiotic, and cinnamon, bitter melon and gymnema extracts for additional metabolic support. And it does all of that while providing 8 grams of fiber in one small powdered stick. Mix it into 8–10 ounces of a cold beverage and you’re done. That helps with the “easy” part I want the supplements I offer to have.
