Our Curated Standard
We favor whole-food and plant-based nutrition whenever practical, while recognizing that some nutrients are best delivered through thoughtfully formulated supplements. Every product we carry is evaluated for its ingredients, formulation, and how well it aligns with our standards before we recommend it.
Why These Ingredients Matter
| Ingredient | Why |
|---|---|
| Fibersol 2 & Apple Fiber | These ingredients give TrueCleanse a meaningful fiber component. Fibersol 2 is a digestion-resistant maltodextrin that has been studied in humans for intestinal function, including bowel regularity and stool characteristics, as well as effects on the gut environment.1,2 |
| Vitamin B3, B6 & B12 | These essential B vitamins participate in normal metabolism and numerous enzyme-dependent processes throughout the body. Vitamin B6 alone functions as a coenzyme in more than 100 enzyme reactions involved primarily in protein metabolism.3 |
| TrueZyme Blend & Digestive-Oriented Ingredients | The formula combines its TrueZyme Enzyme Blend with ingredients such as betaine HCl, peppermint, fennel, papaya seed, licorice root and aloe vera. Together with the fiber component, these ingredients give the formula a distinctly digestive-oriented dimension, including support for normal bowel regularity, beyond its large botanical blend. |
| Berries, Grapes & Other Colorful Fruits | Cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, acerola, blueberry, bilberry, grape seed and pomegranate broaden the formula with fruits rich in naturally occurring plant compounds, including polyphenols and anthocyanins that have been widely studied for their biological and antioxidant activity.4,5 |
| Traditional & Less-Common Botanicals | Yellow dock, alfalfa, burdock, pau d’arco, suma, eleuthero, ashwagandha, licorice, green tea, green coffee and guarana are among the many botanicals that make this an unusually diverse formula. Several have long histories of use and continue to be subjects of modern research.6,7 Because TrueCleanse uses a proprietary blend, individual amounts are not disclosed and we do not assume that any one botanical is present at a clinically studied dose. |

Why We Carry It
TrueCleanse is marketed as a cleansing product, but that isn’t the primary reason it earns a place in the LiquidWholeFood catalog. The human body already has sophisticated systems for processing and eliminating waste, including the liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, lungs and skin. We don’t believe a supplement literally “cleans” organs or washes accumulated impurities out of body tissues.
What interests us about TrueCleanse is what is actually in the formula. It combines fiber, B vitamins, enzymes and an unusually broad assortment of fruits, roots, leaves, seeds and botanical extracts. Many of these are plants most people rarely, if ever, include in an ordinary diet. Its fiber and digestive-oriented ingredients also give the formula a practical role for people looking for nutritional support for normal bowel regularity.
So we see two good reasons to carry it. Some people may be interested in TrueCleanse when things aren’t moving as regularly as they’d like. Others may simply want a convenient way to get an extraordinary variety of botanicals they would be unlikely to consume otherwise. Neither reason requires us to believe that a supplement is “detoxifying” the body’s organs.
Why I Recommend It
I may be an unusual person to recommend a product called TrueCleanse because I don’t really believe in detox supplements. I don’t believe you can “detoxify” an organ as though you were washing out a shirt. Your liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, lungs and skin already have jobs involved in processing and eliminating what your body doesn’t need, and thankfully none of them require a rinse cycle.
What I do believe in, very strongly, is plants. Plants contain an extraordinary variety of nutrients and other compounds, and I think there is real value in eating broadly from the plant kingdom. Sometimes a plant we would almost never encounter in an ordinary diet provides nutrients or plant compounds in combinations we simply don’t get from the same familiar foods every day.
That’s what I love about TrueCleanse. Look at the ingredient list. Yellow dock, alfalfa, eleuthero, pau d’arco, suma, burdock, acerola, beet, ashwagandha, bilberry, grape seed, pomegranate and many more are all packed into the same formula. I don’t pretend that an undisclosed amount of any one of them is going to produce the results seen in a clinical study. I simply like having that much plant diversity in one convenient product.
And there is a much more down-to-earth reason someone might reach for TrueCleanse: sometimes it’s just hard to go. The fiber and digestive-oriented ingredients in the formula may help support normal bowel regularity. To me, that’s a far more sensible way to think about “cleansing” than imagining that a supplement is somehow washing out your organs.
The package talks about using TrueCleanse to “gently remove impurities from your body.” I look at it differently. You gently remove waste every time you breathe, sweat and visit the restroom. What interests me is what you’re putting into your body with TrueCleanse: fiber, nutrients, enzymes and an unusually varied assortment of botanicals. At the 1/3-stick daily serving suggested on the package for use outside the True2Life program, one box lasts about a month. For roughly $2 a day, that’s why I think it’s worth the money.

Frequently Asked Questions
Product Questions
Can TrueCleanse help if I’m having trouble going to the bathroom? It may help support normal bowel regularity. TrueCleanse contains apple fiber and Fibersol 2 resistant maltodextrin along with digestive-oriented ingredients such as enzymes, peppermint, fennel, papaya seed, licorice root and aloe vera. Fibersol 2 has been studied in humans for effects on intestinal function, including stool volume, consistency and transit time.1,2 Because the amounts of individual ingredients in the proprietary blend aren’t disclosed, we don’t describe TrueCleanse as a laxative or promise that it will produce a bowel movement.
Do I need to be constipated to use TrueCleanse? No. One of the things we like most about TrueCleanse is its botanical diversity. It provides a remarkably broad assortment of fruits, berries, roots, leaves, seeds and herbal extracts, including many plants most people rarely consume. You may be interested in it simply as a convenient way to add that variety to your diet.
How much TrueCleanse should I take? For everyday use, the manufacturer suggests mixing 1/3 stick with 8 ounces of water and drinking it daily. At that serving, a box of 10 sticks provides approximately a 30-day supply.
How much of each herb is in TrueCleanse? The individual amounts aren’t disclosed. Most of the plant ingredients are part of a proprietary blend, so we know which ingredients are present but not how much of each one a serving provides. That’s why we don’t assume that an individual botanical in TrueCleanse is present at the same dose used in a particular research study.
Does TrueCleanse contain caffeine? TrueCleanse contains green tea, green coffee and guarana, all of which can naturally contain caffeine. The manufacturer does not state how much caffeine a serving of TrueCleanse provides, so if you’re sensitive to caffeine, keep that in mind when deciding when and how to use it.
So if you don’t believe in detox supplements, why are you selling me something called TrueCleanse? It’s awkward, isn’t it? I didn’t name it. I just like what’s in it.
