LiquidWholeFood.com Green Initiatives
LiquidWholeFood.com is pleased to announce that they have been Green Office Certified by Greenline Paper Company. We are committed to your wellness and to earth-friendly practices. Here are just some of the ways we intentionally practice being responsible stewards of the earth:
- Our packaging material is made with biodegradable corn starch.
- Any and all boxes we send products in are Cradle-to-Cradle certified for ecologically intelligent design.
- Our padded envelopes are 100% recycled paper with no plastic used.
- Packing tape used to seal our boxes or attach labels is a pure cellulose transparent tape which is eco-friendly since it is biodegradable.
- Our stationery and envelopes are made with 100% recycled paper, not the 30-40% PCW most "recycled" paper supplies are.
- Any and all incoming boxes are disassembled and recycled.
- Any plastic containers (all numbers) from both company and personal use are recycled, as are any glass, metal, and glossy/non glossy magazines.
- Bottled water is not purchased, but rather supplied by filtered tap water.
- Draft copies that are not considered final copies are placed in a bin and the reverse side is used in the copier/printer for further use.
- In the office and shipping area, dimmmers were installed and set at 75% to reduce energy output. In considering what energy-saving lighting to use, we researched compact fluorescent lighting and have concerns about the mercury in them. The specialized recycling center for items of this nature is too far away to be faithful to recycling them. We encourage the use of compact fluorescents and encourage those choosing this option to recycle them at an approved center.
- While not on a dimmer, the bathroom fixtures have lower wattage bulbs than they could, also to reduce energy output.
- We actively chose to replace our fully functional toilet with a low-flow 1.6 gallon flush and took the toilet to the recycling center. In our township, current code "grandfathers" in existing 4-6 gallon toilets but requires any replacement toilet be the low-flow. We felt the need to be proactive in this area.
- Our office furniture is actually reused second- and third-hand. This includes tables, filing cabinets, lamps, visitor chairs, shredder, and other goods. We do not have desks on purpose--our only option was to buy new, so we declined. We use tables. The use of pencils over pens is encouraged.
- Computer screens are on mandatory power-saving settings with sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity.
- Energy-efficient windows were installed last year.
We encourage all people to discover how easy it is to reduce, reuse, and recycle and to adopt more green initiatives of their own. You may even save a little to further invest in your health and wellness!
LiquidWholeFood.com believes that we should use God-given resources to serve others as well. It is for this reason we regularly give to relief agencies both internationally and here in the USA. Our main sponsorship is to the American Red Cross, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Soles for Souls and the Rose of Sharon Welfare Organisation in Harare, Zimbabwe. Please consider donating to causes that appeal to your passions--even a small donation creates ripples that can have big effects!
Please remove the label from your Body Balance bottle before recycling it--and throw away the lid! Most municipalities cannot recycle the bottle with the label still on the bottle.
Life Force International Green Initiatives
Life Force cares about their impact on the environment. It makes no sense for a company so committed to providing excellent wellness products not to be aware of the need for our lands and air to be respected for what they also offer for our total wellness. Check out Life Force International's first digital version of their member communication called the LifeLine.
Recently, Life Force replaced the existing lighting system in their shipping facility with sensor-activated 6 lamp T8 high-bay fixtures. This translates to a savings of 133,000 Kwh--enough to power at least 12 houses for a whole year. This work was completed through a San Diego county utility rebate program. To find out what power saving programs there are for your home or business, do a local keyword search using "utility rebate program."
Life Force International is pleased to own and honor preserved land at the back of their facility. Because of the nature of their manufacturing process, no toxic emissions nor contaminated water threaten the wildlife in this area, and it is carefully screened from the existing facilities.
Company founders Wayne and Gerri Hillman also have set up programs which contribute portions of sales and an annual gift to: CARE International, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, and the Environmental Defense Fund's Oceans Program, developing and implementing innovative new approaches to protect critical marine areas.
From sustainably harvesting 9 types of sea vegetation and making sure the aloe vera juice in Body Balance is certified organic, using 100% biodegradeable, recyclable and reusable packing peanuts made from vegetable starch, wrapping their bottles in EarthFirst PLA film made exclusively from renewable field corn (making the entire bottle recyclable when the label is separated from the bottle) and emphasizing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) recycled certified paper in member communication, in this industry Life Force is also a Leading Force in being excellent stewards of the environment for the world in which we live.
